About the Event
Enjoy a taste of history and actual tastings of pub and tavern beverages at a unique “virtual pub crawl” without leaving your seat! The program highlights the history of the Somerset Hills area and its taverns, samples of historic concoctions, and a fun and entertaining look at the social and business aspects of alcohol in the area over the centuries.
MLH is proud to bring this event to the Somerset Hills area based on the successful similar program held for the Westfield Historical Society. It fits right in with our mantra of sharing history with a social twist. However, you must be 21 or older to attend.
Join us as local historians Brooks Betz and Meg Wastie, both of Basking Ridge, have combed through numerous documents and periodicals to provide interesting stories of the area’s people and social practices from colonial times to the present. Each “chapter” visits the social aspects of taverns and inns and their importance to the residents of the time.
Participants will have actual “taste samples” of the time with small samples of drinks from the past: mead, metheglin, flips, grog and toddies.

Sponsored by the Mr. Local History Project (“History with a Social Twist!”), this unique event will occur at Delicious Heights, Bedminster (formerly Willie’s Tavern) on Sunday, October 1, from 3:30-5:00 PM. Attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets ($25 per person) in advance, as seating is limited.

Delicious Heights Bedminster Host Has a Long History
This sounds like an interesting and fun event for the community. Unfortunately I’ve committed to attend a wedding shower in Belmar, NJ and will be unable to attend. I look forward to joining future events.
