Video Series: Inside the Blairsden Mansion in Peapack, New Jersey

This story brings the history of the Gilded Age, also known as the Golden Age of America, where wealthy Americans built some of the most lavish mansions and estates in America from the late 1800s to the post-depression era. The Central New Jersey Beaux Arts estate has been intriguing since its construction started. A custom railroad, exotic fruit trees, iconic Roman statues, and even a few ghost stories are covered in our Blairsden collection of stories that we showcase at the end of this post. But for now, let’s look at the Mr. Local History Blairsden video collection.

Blairsden – Exclusive Video Series Showcases Like No Other

Take a step back to one of the most exclusive estates – The estate of C. Ledyard Blair. Situated in the rolling hills of Somerset County, New Jersey, the Mr. Local History Project spends time with author and historian W. Barry Thomson as he provides an online guided tour of the estate. Filmed during the Mansion in May fundraiser in May 2014.

Fourteen videos showcase the intricate details of the Peapack Blairsden Estate, the designers, landscape architects, and the history of this iconic Gilded Age estate.

A key mission of the Mr. Local History project is to find new ways to “Share History with a Social Twist,” which means we try to incorporate the social aspects of people, places, and things that tie back to tell their history simultaneously. This is why we partnered with the Cat’s Meow Village to commission them to create art on wood on the front side, along with the history on the back. Then we hope you like them so much that you display them in your home and continue to tell the stories.
