UPDATE / Donor Special:
The 2026 Ambassador Giving Campaign to Support Project Local History Ambassador for 5th Grade Students is underway: five schools and almost 500 Bernards Township official flags to be distributed. See our special offer to financially support the program this year.
A call for Sponsorship and Community Support
The Student Local History Ambassador Project in Bernards Township relies solely on local businesses and community support. Please consider donating to this important program to share local history with our young historians.
With America’s 250th-anniversary celebrations underway, the Mr. Local History team has added a special bonus gift to this year’s ambassador program, a sticker honoring General Washington and his four key Generals. Can you name them all? The kids will.

About the Program and Your Help
Connecting Bernards Township students to their local history, the Mr. Local History Project will kick off its 4th of the five-year program, Project Local History Ambassador, for 5th-grade students, thanks to the financial support of many notable people in the township. The program provides an official Annin & Company Bernards Township flag, accompanied by an assembly discussing the history of Bernards Township, the Annin Flag Company, and the design of the official flag. Just for 2026, we’re adding a special discussion to share some localized America 250 history and a special gift to all the students and teachers.

Project Local Ambassador began in 2023 and runs for 5 years, ensuring that every 5th-grade student in Bernards Township receives an official Bernards Township flag along with the history of this iconic local keepsake.
“Project Local History Ambassador would have never started if it weren’t for our community’s generosity.”
Meg Wastie – Education Program Coordinator
To preserve and promote Bernards Township’s pride and history, the MLH Project started giving custom Bernards Township flags to every 5th-grade student at Cedar Hill, Liberty Corner, Mt. Prospect, Oak Street, and St. James schools over five years until every student had a Bernards Township flag.

There is a deep connection to history, as the world’s largest flagmaker family originated in Liberty Corner, New Jersey. Known originally as Annin’s Corner, the Liberty Corner section of Bernards Township was the first home to the Annin Family, who made this very special flag for all those students moving on to William Annin Middle School.
Help Pay it Forward
While we got through year one of five, you can still make a difference by paying it forward, so the Mr. Local History Project can continue this program for 5 years and ensure EVERY STUDENT in Bernards Township gets a flag for themselves.
SPECIAL for our followers:
Anyone who purchases any of our America 250 official flags, a Bernards Township official flag, or our Hopkinson American flags will receive one of these limited-edition Bernards Township flags that the 5th graders receive.

Also, anyone who donates to the program will receive the same flag with a donation of over $50. Just mention “Ambassador” along with your donation.
