Retrospective: Lost & Torn Down Memories From the Somerset Hills

As with all Mr. Local History retrospectives, we often update the post when we learn stories and are sent photos from our community. We will continue to expand this piece as information becomes available. If you have any stories to share, please post in the comments section at the end of the piece.

Mr. Local History Project

The Mr. Local History Project loves crowdsourcing with the public so look to our social media pages as we share what we find with the public AND look to the public to help us grow the story.

A few of our researchers are from the Somerset Hills area and they were asked the simple question: “What key businesses, homes, or government structures have been torn down (razed) in the area and are now just historic memories. As with many great local history questions, we wanted to take the question on. The Somerset Hills is an area of Northern Somerset County in New Jersey making up the towns of Bedminster, Bernards Township, Bernardsville, Far Hills, Peapack and Gladstone.

Below are just some list of properties/icons lost in the Somerset Hills. Pictures are provided as we locate the property prior to being razed. Click on any image to start a slideshow.
