The Mr. Local History Project is fortunate to have volunteers who continually push the envelope, finding new ways to share local history. New technologies such as AI and Drones have pushed storytelling in new directions, and we love that. We launched our drone program in 2022, and we’ve now had the opportunity to reflect on all the work that has gone into telling history through the power of drone photos and videos. While we’ve had a setback as our drone suffered a catastrophic crash, we’re hoping the public will help us restore this program as we look for donations to secure a new drone (see the end of this post if you can help.) But please sit back and click away at some of the great footage and photos from our drone program, which has really added to our credo: “sharing local history with a social twist.” Enjoy.

Our Drone Took a Hard Fall – Hoping Our Fans Can Help.

SAD NEWS:
Our Drone Took a Hard Fall – Hoping Our Fans Can Help.
We are sad to share that our aerial history photography program has hit an unexpected setback. While capturing breathtaking fall foliage for our Mr Local History Project series, our drone suffered a serious crash after striking an unseen obstacle. Our operator is fine, but the drone is not. The repair estimate came in at over $ 400, which is more than our small nonprofit can easily afford. This drone has been our eye in the sky, bringing our community beautiful overhead perspectives of local landmarks, historical sites, and seasonal beauty that few ever get to see. (see just a sample at the bottom of this post.)
If you have enjoyed our photos, videos, and stories, please consider helping us get back in the air. Every contribution, large or small, makes a difference, and as a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, your donation is tax-deductible. We don’t want to divert funds from our gift shop as those funds go towards our scholarship fund. So sad. First it was insurance increases, and now this. Please help if you can.
Help us continue sharing the beauty and history of our community from above.
Donate today and keep history flying.
